Immerse yourself in Chile’s southern surf coast - where surfing becomes a gateway to understanding coastlines, communities, and conservation. The new School for Surf Studies invites you to join the inaugural Surf Ecology field course on Chile's pristine, south-central surf coast this September. This is an immersive surf experience where surfing becomes a gateway to understanding and protecting the coast itself. On our 9-day journey, we will explore various components of this unique Surf Ecosystem. We'll arrive and get oriented in Pichilemu, home to the Punta de Lobos World Surfing Reserve, before heading south to surf a region known as the holy grail for left-hand, sand-bottom point breaks. There, we will settle into a 3rd-generation traditional ranch that will be our base for daily surf trips and deeper exploration into the biodiverse coastlines, watersheds, and forests that together support the fisheries, agriculture, economy, and rich culture of these peaceful rural communities—all at a historic moment where, today, the region’s future is suspended under global uncertainty. Co-designed and co-lead by local surfers, guides, and community members, this special program offers a rare opportunity to not just score amazing waves, but to also connect deeply to place while contributing to the sustainable development goals of the region.
